Iron Glass Rehoused Primes
Whilst the Iron Curtain did its best to separate East from West during the Cold War, there was a bristling industry built around reverse engineering each others technology in an effort to stay ahead. Optical companies in the USSR often copied their East Germany counterparts such are Contax, Zeiss and Leica, but often failed to achieve the same level of performance.
Iron Glass was founded in 2017 and based in Ukraine, takes many of these mass produced Soviet stills lenses and placing them in robust, modern housings. Funky with lots of field curvature and easy to flare, these are perfect for a softer more painterly image on full frame sensors.
Our set includes the rear anamorphic modification to give you some characteristics of beloved anamorphics while remaining the practicality of shooting with spherical lenses.
